Who We Are

Who We Are

The opening sentence of the Bible tells us that God is an artist and the creator of all beauty. God made humanity to be the pinnacle of his creation, wanting us to both experience beauty and participate in it. To encounter pure beauty is to encounter Jesus Christ, his life, his love, and his work. When we encounter Jesus and follow him, we ourselves become new creations, renewed characters in his story. We invite you to join us on this beautiful journey.

New Creation is devoted to journeying with Jesus, cultivating community, and a flourishing Los Angeles.

What We Believe

What We Believe

Though our church is relatively new, it is not new in its beliefs and practices. We are part of the Great Tradition of historic Christianity, which is rooted in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments and is summarized in the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds.

We are a member of the Presbyterian Church in America, a family of churches in the reformed tradition whose unifying beliefs are summarized in the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms. We deeply value the collaboration, accountability, and visible expression of the gospel that comes through connection to other churches.

Dan and Kerstin and their three daughters are all natives of Southern California. Every member of the Myers family is artistically inclined. Dan and Kerstin met in college where both were studying music. Dan made his living as a freelance musician and composer for many years and continues to take on musical projects. He has composed music for network television and short films, toured with world-renowned artists, and arranged and orchestrated for several live orchestras. Kerstin, along with being a home-schooling mom and gluten-free chef and baker extraordinaire, is an accomplished singer and musical theater actress. Aurelia, Clara, and Selah are all involved in the arts as well, as they each sing, dance, and act.

God has not only gifted this family of artists, but has given them the passion and deep desire to start a new church that is home for the artistic community of Los Angeles. After 11 years of working in the church in the area of community formation and worship, the family moved to St. Louis, Missouri in 2009 so that Dan could pursue a Masters in Divinity. After leaving Los Angeles, it wasn’t long before God put a deep desire in the hearts of this family to begin a new work in the city of Los Angeles for Jesus. After completing his studies and working the next 2 years in pastoral ministry, the PCA (Presbyterian Church in America) called Dan to start a new church in Los Angeles.
